Overarching Artist StatementThroughout this semester the things that inspired me to make the art I created was my teacher. I used to love art but throughout my years of school with different teachers things are different now. I enjoy trying new things. I created things in this art class that I didn't even know existed. I also inspired myself to push through even if I didn't know how to do something it was fun experimenting. I used so many different materials. I used Tempera-Paint, Chalk, Oil pastels, Pastels, Shapes, Ink, Stencils, watercolor paint. So many different ways you can make one picture it was quite a experience. My artwork honestly tells a story. At the beginning of the semester I wasn't to excited about this class because we were working with chalk and it was messy. I did really good with what we had to draw it just wasn't my favorite. Towards the middle of the semester I started to enjoy more of what we were doing. Iv'e never been good at painting and now I am really good at it. Towards the end of this semester I learned how to make logos and do things that could possibly help me later on in the world. Creative Obstacles and Challenges: One of the first projects we did when we had to use different shades of black chalk and blending to create an eye. It was frustrating at first because I really don't like the type of art that gets your hands really dirty so I came out of my comfort box. I also was having trouble with the chalk by itself because I have never worked with it and trying to actually make a picture with it was hard but I overcame it by not caring if I made a mistake and just adding on to the picture. The eye I drew came out very nice it looked realistic. Taking Risks: made me a better artist because me challenging myself helps me push myself to do new & more difficult things. It takes a lot to take on something you've never done and walk in with an open mind. That was probably the hardest thing. Having an open mind. Its like your telling yourself you can do it but you want to give up. Success: My most successful project this semester was probably my project called The Insides. It was almost like the red sea on a sunset. I had just learned how to scrape the picture to make it look like a reflection on the sea from the sun. It was really fun doing this project it just took time and patience because I couldn't figure out what colors I wanted for each little part. Taking Risks
